Organized at Camp Douglass, Chicago, Ill., July 26, 1862, for three
months. Moved to Cairo, Ill., July 27, thence to Columbus, Ky., August
6. Guard railroad and bridges by detachments, at Big Muddy Bridge, Illinois
Central R.R. (2 Cos.); at Mound City, Ill., (2 Cos); at Moscow, Ky. (3
Cos.), and at Little Obion bridge (3 Cos.), till October.
Mustered out October 29, 1862.
Regiment lost 23 by disease during service.
