Allen Humes Baker served with Captain Samuel Hooper's Company D, 40th Illinois Volunteer Infantry Regiment, with the rank of Sergeant. He was born 7 December 1839, Chester County, PA. He married Mary Elizabeth Carrothers, 24 June 1868, Richland Co, IL. Allen died 15 January 1900 and was buried at Carthage, Jasper Co, MO.
