Private Samuel S. Durfee enlisted in Company I of the 13th Illinois Cavalry. He was born 12 Dec 1844 in Campbell County, Kentucky and died 20 Sep 1883 in Pope County, Illinois. He is buried in Durfee Cemetery, Pope County, Illinois. Samuel married Mary Isabella Hill on 4 Jan 1866 in Golconda, Pope County, Illinois.
