Simeon Eels [sic], a former resident of Cary, died at the hospital connected with the Old Soldier's Home in Milwaukee July 26, 1917 and the remains were brought to Cary where funeral services were held in the M. E. Church conducted by Rev. R. R. Feuell Saturday and interment was made in Cary cemetery by the side of his wife who died in 1853. Mr. Eels [sic] was 93 years old on May 15, and was a veteran of the Mexican and Civil Wars. He leaves his daughter, Mrs. Helen Sprague, of Elgin,with whom he has made his home for many years, a son, George Eels [sic], of Kansas, a grandson, Geo. Sprague, of Chicago, and grand daughter, Mrs. Gldie Roberts, of California. In 1849 he married Miss Caltha C. Cary, who was a sister of Mrs. Henry Lindsey of this place. He was in Cary and sa with the Old Soldiers, of which there were only four on Memorial Day, during exercises. He is the second of the four to pass away since that day, the other being A. L. Weaver.
