Joseph Marion Weir

Company C, 15th Illinois Volunteer Cavalry

Joseph Marion Wier was born April 17, 1832 to Robert and Delilah (Marone) Wier in Saline County Illinois. He died August 21, 1888 and is buried in the Mt. Zion Cemetery just west of Thompsonville. Joseph served in the military when he was 29 yrs old in Co. C 15th Illinois Cavalry.

Joseph was married 3 times.

First, to Malinda Cruse (1830 – 1853) and they had one child, Henry Miller. Malinda died after 1 year of marriage and 22 days after Henry was born.

His second wife was Luticia Catherine Stewart (1836 – 1865).

Their children were Angelia Angeline (10/13/1855); Malinda Helen (7/25/1857); John Robert (6/7/1860); Luticia died after 10 yrs of marriage.

On January 28, 1866, Joseph married his third wife, Elizabeth M. Baskin (1843 – 1914). Their children were Luticia A. (1867), Joseph D. (1869 – 1872); Sarah Ann (aka Sally) (1874); Hugh C. (1877); Samuel (1880); Francis Marion (1888)
