My gr-grandfather, Augustus "Gus" Phillips, b. 14 Feb 1847, Logan County, IL was the son of Willis H. and Matilda Phillips. He died 23 Aug 1917, Lake Fork, Logan Co, IL and was buried in Section B of the Carlyle Cemetery, Logan Co, IL. After the Civil War he laid rails for the Illinois Central Railroad. He became a farmer after he married 17 July 1871, Logan. The photo, above, was taken about 1910 and is of Gus, his wife, and children.
